Jody Pyles grew up in Mount Airy, NC and is a resident of Radford, Virginia. He was drawn to gospel music early on. His mother sang and played guitar in the church where his dad was the pastor. His mom taught him his first three guitar chords and from there Jody went on to become a multi-instrumentalist (bass, guitar, piano, drums). He first sang in church when he was four years old and has traveled with Southern Gospel, Bluegrass Gospel, and Contemporary Christian bands since age 13.
In 2009 he began writing country music. His first song was inspired by a phrase he saw written on the wall of a Nashville recording studio bathroom. Since then he has written around 50 songs and recorded five of them for his self-titled debut EP. The EP was recorded in both Naples, Fl and Nashville, TN. It was produced by Stuart Mathis (Jewel, Jakob Dylan & The Wallflowers, Sara Bareilles). One track on the EP went to number one on the SongVault Country Song Auditions Top Ten Chart.
A person of faith, in his spare time he volunteers with The Children’s Rescue Initiative and travels all over the world on two-week sojourns to rescue children that have been enslaved to work in brick fields and factories.
Jody also has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and has won four State Titles, two National Titles and one World Title as a former competing martial artist.
