The Springs was formed by open casting calls, with kids 18 and under, from three states, Alabama, Georgia and Florida, with all of the try-outs being filmed for national television. Lamar Morris was chosen to tutor the kids and produce their first two CDs (Lamar was the lead guitarist for Hank Williams, Jr., wrote Hank's first #1 single, which won him a BMI songwriting award, and band leader of the Bama Band for over 20 years).
Now based in Nashville, The Springs’ were just nominated for the New Music Weekly country music band of the year (along with Steel Magnolia, Sugarland, and Lady Antebellum), and their high energy concerts consist of a mixture of old and new crowd pleasing cover songs that everyone knows, to their own brand of country music. They have performed 100 shows since June and have been constantly touring all of the country for three years.
Touring for almost four years, this young band has become road tested while wearing out two vans already. Having charted three songs on the main Music Row Country chart thus far, while having a #5 and #6 on the New Music Weekly chart, the band has also had four #1’s on the Christian Country charts, at the same time. The Springs have built a crossover fan base that few artists their age can match today, which has helped them appear on the front covers of 4 national magazines. All of this has been quite an accomplishment, considering that they are still an independent, unsigned band out of South Alabama.
The Springs band have opened for Reba and shared the stage at festivals and concert venues with: Craig Morgan, Shenandoah, Steve Holy, Sammy Kershaw, Earl Thomas Conley, Joe Diffie, Collin Raye, Mel McDaniel, T. Graham Brown, T.G. Shepherd, Tracy Lawrence, Ricky Skaggs, Confederate Railroad, The Isaacs, Point of Grace, Billy Dean, Aaron Tippin, Ronnie McDowell, Mark Wills, Jeff Bates, Carolina Rain, Mark Chesnutt, Jonathan Singleton, Randy Houser, Jason Crabb, the Carter Twins, Sara Evans, Alan Jackson and Kid Rock, just to name a few.
